Specimen Preparation for Micro-Examination

Objective:

   Preparation a specimen for micro-examination by carrying out the following steps:

  1. Grinding and polishing the specimen.
  2. Etching the polished mirror-finished surface of a specimen to reveal its structure.
  3. Using the metallurgical microscope.
  4. Examining the structure of the specimen under the microscope.

Introduction:

   In preparing a specimen for micro-examination, it must have a surface produced, which is flat, and scratch free.
